Farewell to Bristol.

 Not sure what I expected of the floating cinema last night, certainly not a near silent film. A mixture of black and white with 60's and 70's footage, the film showed images of work, rest and play all along the resorts around the coastline of Britain. 75 minutes freezing our socks off, in windy conditions and rain in the air from 9.30pm to 11.00pm.  But oh it was so worth watching. Hats off to these guys for putting on a brilliant film and if your lucky enough for the cinema to come to your area definitely go see it.

 This morning we had a few hours to kill before our lunch arrangement with Dave and Heather at the Shakespear pub. Our bus tour guide of yesterday said the Cabot Tower was one of the 'must do's' in Bristol. Setting off in the pouring rain we climbed first Brandon Hill to the park and then the 106 steps up to the top of the tower. Views would have been brilliant if it hadn't been for the mizzle. Worth getting to the top though and an extra bonus for me on the way to the museum we found another Shaun. I have found about 40 of the 70 scattered around the city, so not a bad effort. Also seen as we left Bristol down the cut, a Gromit (last years) and an Alfie the gorilla (two years ago). Alfie was the famous Bristol Zoo Gorilla often paraded down the street by his keeper. He hated men with beards showing his disapproval by flinging dung at them. He now resides in the Bristol museum as one of the stuffed exhibits.

Having exhausted myself on the climb we made our way to the Bristol museam. Only having an hour to spend it was a whirlwind visit and the only photo taken (apart from a Shaun at the entrance) was another Banksy.

Having left at 3pm and sailed past Netham lockhouse (waved straight past and didn't have to pay for a third nights stay) finding a mooring could have been challenging. As we left Hanham Ian spied a pontoon with space for at least one boat.  A chap already moored obligingly moved his boat forward so both of us managed to fit in. With the rain starting again it was so nice to tie up and get in the dry. Bath tomorrow if we can get moored!!!
