Illiterate idiots!

Admiring the sunset through the side window last night, the sun was a bright red which for some reason never shows up the true colour in a photo, when suddenly this awful pong enveloped the interior of MB. I looked at Ian and he looked at me, then we realised it was coming from outside. A muck spreader was about in the vicinity, we could hear it but not see it, but boy could we smell it! Out came the air freshener and we about emptied the can trying to get rid of the stink. All windows, roof vents and doors were shut tight, shame really because last night was that humid! Anyway no quilt needed for us when we went to bed, much too hot inside MB and that smell lingered with us until we drifted off. By the time we awoke in the morning, it had gone.

 It was to the Park and Ride at Grimston Bar that we drove to this morning. Bus passes couldn't be used until after 9.30 so we timed our arrival for then. Didn't have long to wait as the buses arrive every 7 minutes and by 10 am we had started the York City Wall walk.

The map on every entry to the wall showed several points where one has to leave the wall and walk along the road. Of course this meant steps and lots of them and at the start of our holiday, this would have about 'done me in'. But a degree of fitness in all the activities this past month, has replaced the weak person I was, and replaced one that can now keep up with Ian and no longer slow him down.

No more stopping half way.

 

It took us nearly two hours to walk all the way around, well we did keep stopping to take photos and to allow those idiots that can't read to pass. On every stairway there are notices, you must walk clockwise around the wall. Why then do some folk chose to ignore this, especially as parts of the wall are very narrow. To keep ourselves safe, most of the time was spent tucked in an alcove waiting for them to go by! 

 

York Cathedral

Ian gave Prospect Farm a ring to see if they had availability for us tonight. This is where we stayed for five days whilst visiting York in May and yes there was plenty of room. In fact, we were the only ones on the field. Ian also cheekily asked the owner if he could borrow a ladder to check our satellite dish. Its packed up you see. Tries to lock on to the Astra satellite, but then off it goes searching again. Unfortunately, after testing cables and taking the dome off, nothing really came to light, so it will have to wait now until we get back to Langley Mill.

 

And wildlife. Nearly trod on this bee. In fact, we thought it was deformed and dead.

 But looked again and...is that another bee on it? Yep, seems like a bit of rumpy pumpy is going on!
