About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

New moorings perhaps?

After we had moored up I took the woofits for a walk. As I approached Ifley lock these workman were what I thought to be making good moorings for us boaters. But no!!! When enquiring as to what they were doing, I was told that they are planting foliage all along the edge to "discourage" boats from mooring. Do the Thames environment agency not want us boaters??? After all the moorings are few and far between with all the free 24 hour spots always full, and the rest either very expensive or difficult to find and moor up to. I was disgusted!!
They were quick to take our licence fee of £165 so shouldn't they at least give us good moorings.
