About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Moved to the Ferryman

The mooring at the Ferryman became free the next morning. The majority of the rain had gone through over night, and because we had made such good progress yesterday ( 20 miles and 7 locks) we decide to stay for today and leave tomorrow. So we moved to the moorings and as this could be are last night on the Thames I decided to take another tea break picture. Dukes cut is only 6 miles away and that will lead us back onto the Oxford canal. It will certainly feel strange going at 3 mile an hour instead of 5 - 6 on the river.

Well we just couldn't have planned it! No sooner had we settled down with our cup of tea when the farmer lit this fire. Our moorings on the Thames has so far been either brilliant or down right difficult. How ever the month spent on this river has been well worth every moment . The weather has been exceptionally kind to us and I can highly recommend the trip up the Thames from the start at Limehouse right to the top at Letchlade.
