About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Abingdon Mooring

Back from John Radcliff hospital in Oxford. Bus service brilliant from Abingdon. No 23X or 13X takes you to the main entrance in about 50 mins. Unfortunately my news isn't brilliant. Because this hospital didnt have my original xrays, I have been told I must have another xray in a weeks time. The bones appear to still be lined up (although Ian seems to think they are not as straight as the first xray)and they need to re check that nothing has moved. I may still need an operation. Again this has scuppered our plans. Do we stay put here in Abingdon or do we carry on up to Lechlade? Thank goodness for the Internet. Ian looked on line and found a hospital in Swindon that is willing to see me next Thursday so he has had to go back to J R hospital to collect a letter. If the weather is with us tomorrow (rain has been forecast so we may stay put) then we will head of toward Lechlade. Quick footnote, my plaster has been changed and is now red!!!!!
