Apart from the usual walk with Hank, it was a relaxing day at home giving us time to peruse through the Tasmania book Sally had given us. Such a small island compared with Australia yet so much to see and do. We are beginning to think three weeks is not long enough. In Hobart alone I have already pencilled in 8 must do's. Some excursions will have to wait for another visit me thinks.
Mid-afternoon and donned the finary to go off to Sydney to see War Horse at the Lyric theatre. The show wasn't until 6pm and with plenty of eateries to choose from along Darling Harbour, we headed for the only place with 'Happy Hour' signage. Just had drinks 'cos with the theatre tickets purchased a special 'Royal Box' deal was included which consisted of canapes and champagne.
This for two |
War Horse is an amazing production. This was the second time for us but the first for Sally and Andy and I must say they were most impressed by the puppeteer mastery and how the horses were made to look so life-like. Such a moving show and many a tear flowed as the story unfolded and it really brought home just what horses had to go through in WW1
There was a pizza stop on the way home. Well, after all, those canapes boxes were for two to share so hardly sufficient to fill bellies and we needed something to soak up the Champagne. Hank needed a treat as well. He had been on his own for 6 hours and I know my brother had been worried but Hank had been the perfect dog with no mess and nothing had been chewed or devoured. I should just mention that Hank is our niece Jennifer and husband Mat's dog but their house is being knocked down and rebuilt so it is rental for them for the time being and Hank has had to stay with bruv, Andy.

You will have seen William Ilkley's 799th performance of War Horse, don't know how he does it, into his his third year on the show. That box looked tasty.
