About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

And the mayhem continues.

The noise!!!! Sounded like a pneumatic drill going off in the boat. Ian is trying to remove the tiles in the bathroom with his drill by attaching a chisel to it. I'm at the furthest point, almost in the well deck, to get away from the din. Still it has to be done and the ear plugs Ian keeps by the bedside because of my snoring is helping to keep the sound at bay. Good job we don't have neighbours!! Now if only I had a face mask for the dust!

So the dilemma of how to remove the wood down the side of the bath has sort of been resolved. A jigsaw is to be run down the length as near to the wall as possible meaning that only a small section will have to stay. Ian has already made the pencil mark and once the tiles are off this is to be his next task.

My job today was to design and print our Christmas cards. It gave me an excuse to use some of my winter wildlife and landscape photos and with a great program on the computer called Greeting Gard Factory Deluxe it made doing them a doodle. Cant say the same for printing them out. Blasted printer just didn't want to take the card. Had to keep feeding them in one by one until the printers hissy fit was over.I was beginning to get my hair off with the thing when a fabulous rainbow showed itself over the basin. Shame I just couldn't get the complete arc but it had to be photographed.

Oh and I have decorated our tree! Took all of 5 minutes! Well it is very small but as one says, beautifully formed.

Thanks Alf,
Ian is very interested. Thinks it might just save his bacon. He's going to have a good look at it tomorrow. Xx
