About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Just a quickie on the progress

It's been manic these last few days. Christmas meal at Brindley Lodge yesterday lunchtime, (very nice it was too) and then on getting back to the boat Ian managed a few hours in the bathroom (shelves went up) before we had to set off for the meeting at Sandiacre. After the meeting we were entertained by Michael showing us his slides of the Derby and Sandiacre and Rochdale canals in the 60's and 70's before they were filled in. Restoration has started on both these canals but I cant see it ever going to be in water during our cruising lifetime.

Slight adjustment needed on the shelves and then a coat of varnish.

Not much progress on installing the shower today as it was Fridays work party. Ian did manage to get the vinyl cut in readiness for sticking on the wall but with us hosting drinks for a couple that live in the big house here at Langley, I have been shopping for wine, beers and nibbles and Ian's been getting the bathroom tidy and ready for our guest to use tonight. So this will be the last photos I put on the blog until the 'Big Reveal' when it's all finished. I reckon that by Monday we should be able to have our first shower in two weeks.
