The Walsaw Canal was extremely weedy and full of rubbish. It seemed that we went 1ft forward and two ft back! The boat was put hard into reverse every few yards, hoping to get rid of the rubbish around our prop, so we could get some forward momentum. In the end we stopped wherever we could just so Ian could take our boat hook to get rid of the debrie. We were on our way to the Black Country Museam via Wednesbury Old canal, right onto the Birmingham Level Mainline, left onto the Gower branch then right onto the Wolverhampton level. At the rate were going it will take us all day!!!
About Us
- Ian and Irene Jameison
- In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.
