About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

The family arrive

As we waited for the forth coming visit from Christine and Kev, we took a walk up the Bumblehole branch. In  Nicholson's it states that the last surviving ' gallows' crane stands in between the willows in the Y section. There were lots of boats but no crane so we assumed it "survived no more". I did see the windmill which I presumed was where the name of the village came from.
On the way back Jade had a great time playing ball. This is defiantly doggie heaven with all the open spaces to run in. Even Judy had her moments ( Metacam still working!)

The family arrived later that afternoon. We had a great walk with Josh to the tunnel. I was dragged inside, and it took a lot of persuasion to get him to leave. Then he had a go at fishing. He's not 2 until August, but he certainly knows his own mind. Wouldn't let his dad hold the rod. Oh no..... Even though he struggled to keep the rod upright he was going to do it himself!

Look Grandad, Birdie's

Come on Grandad, keep up!

See Dad, I told you I can hold it1

Echo just couldn't keep out of the picture.
