Saturday 9th
Wonderfully peaceful night and would have slept in this morning if it hadn't been for Toffee. She didn't bark, but 'oofed at the Geese flying and honking overhead at some silly o clock. With us stirring, she decided it must be time to get up and never stopped pawing at Ian and placing a cold nose under the covers until he did!
Nothing planned for today, the weather was perfect, slightly frosty but lovely for a really long walk with Toffee. While I was gone Ian spent the morning fannying about with my laptop, installing all the necessary applications like, Picasa, Gmail, FB, Photo editor etc, oh and Netflix of course. Kept him busy all morning and well into the afternoon.
No chance Toffee! |
Such a lazy day, I binged on Netflix's Bridgerton, and occasionally stirred my stumps to take Toffee out again. I didn't even have to cook a meal because we got a takeaway from The Bridge Italian eatery. A 12-inch meat feast pizza and a cheesy garlic bread. A bit of a thumbs down, though. Not the best we have had, so probably won't go there again.
Sunday 10th
It appears the great Easter getaway has started. So many boats passing by, most were private boaters but some hire boats on the move too. After walking Toffee and Ian then checking the batteries, attention was once again on trying to get the hard drive out of my old laptop. "I'll just give it one more go at starting it" he said. And then.... "Would you Adam and Eve it" he exclaimed. (That's cockney for disbelief) The laptop has only gone and fired up! Blooming 'eck, I need'nt have bought another after all! Actually yes I did because of the unreliability of the machine, but it does make life easier in taking all my files from the hard drive. Ian is now in the process of backing up all my files to an external hard drive ready for me to install on this machine.
Loads of runners have come past late afternoon. Being cheeky, I asked an exhausted looking couple, walking instead of running, what the race was about. Well, no wonder they were tired. A marathon of 41 miles, starting at Newport and ending at Burton upon Trent. The route 'the Millennium way' was what was called an ultra easy first timers race. Hmm, let's just think on this!
Tomorrow we leave for Fradley and very early because of the amount of moored boats now at Branston. They all seem to be heading in the same direction as us and hold-ups at the locks becomes a possibility, so we would rather be lead boat than tail end Charlie.
