19th August
Last night, after tea, that broken fencing was carried safely away from the towpath. In fact, we heaved it over the rails by a steep bank. Don't worry it won't get in the way of the farmer gathering the crops as they have nestled quite nicely amongst the thistle and nettles! Hopefully that will keep the little darlings from chucking them in again.
On the walk yesterday I came across something of a mystery. On a secluded overgrown path and neatly placed together, was a pair of shoes! The shoes looked to be in pretty good nick too. Stolen maybe? No sign of the occupant anywhere. Very baffling.
Water levels this morning seemed lower than yesterday, could be a slow journey to our next destination.
We really shouldn't rely on AccuWeather. Rain to start at 10am was what the app showed for this area. 10am my foot! On our way to Lime Kilns, half an hour into the journey and the drizzle started which quickly became an unwelcome downpour. Time??? 9am! And that was what was in for us for the rest of the day. By 10am a mooring came into view past bridge 13. Sod carrying on, we were soaked through and it wasn't a good time to find that my so-called wind proof, waterproof mac leaked! So this is where we stayed and, not long after mooring, a ruckus outside alerted us to two Stoke Golding boats, one of which had got into a bit of difficulty. The oncoming boat had aimed for that moored boat and I'm not sure if it was hit but the chap on the back was trying to sort them out.
By the time I had taken this photo all seemed okay. |
