And that wasnt all! Took these two photos within 15 minutes of each other.
So today I'm still suffering with the painful boil. I'm bathing it with boiled salty water but it just seems to be getting worse. Looking on the net I see it could take up to 10 days for the thing to burst. Yuk!!!! Not looking forward to that. Anyway we set off after breakfast for Stafford Boat Club. A decent day for travelling and within 3 hours arrived at the club. Journey was not without mishaps though as coming round a bend at Millford Wharf we met a hire boat trying to wind. He got it very wrong and ended up with the nose up against one of the moored boats, linear side. It was a panic situation as I threw the throttle in reverse. Since changing the prop FS actually does what shes told and I stopped pretty much in a straight line. The hirers were trying to pull the boat back to towpath side on the stern rope which didnt help matters one bit. And to top it all another boat came in the opposite direction and also had to shove on the anchors. Still with a bit of friendly advice from us and the other boat we got them sorted and we were once more on our way. On route a C&RT bod was busy painting the rubbing bars under a bridge and the tree gang was busy chopping down branches from the trees by the mobile home park. I know which one I would rather do and it's not chopping trees!
Then we came across this sunken boat. Ian thinks it was there when we came through last year. If he's right then shame on C&RT for allowing it to remain a hazard. Just thought I would look back on the blog to see if he was right and guess what. He is.
Having been shown our moorings right on the meadow, we now await if any help is needed in setting up the site, our bunting will be put up tomorrow. An added bonus for me is a pair of nesting buzzards in the nature reserve opposite bringing all manner of small mice and voles to the nesting chick.
You can see FS moored by the bridge. Later we pulled back to where the boat with the pram top is and they are now on our outside. |

Hi Irene
Sorry to hear about your boil. I have always had good results by soaking sliced lemon in vinegar and then applying to the boil, cover with gauze and change twice a day. May take a couple of days, do not squeeze. Good luck
Hi Mich,
Thanks for the tip. Should have looked at your comment earlier. It would have saved a trip to the chemist to get Magnesium Sulphate paste and would have saved the £3.99 cost!
