What a marvelous day for our travels to begin. It couldn't be better and I made the most of the sunny weather by doing 3 wash loads before we had even reached Branston Lock and the water point. I did start the machine early and at one point left the engine running, locked up the boat, and went for a quick look at the model motorboat racing at the lake in the park.

That fisherman must have been right cheesed off with the powerboats roaring past and spoiling his swim! |
By 11am, and after tea and cake with the Dennis and Margaret, we pulled pins and headed for Alrewas. I must say it felt good to know we were on our way at last, not that I haven't enjoyed the month at the park, but a change of scenery was needed and Alrewas was a good a place as any for that.
