I did feel sorry for those boaters that were braving the conditions. The canal here near the park entrance is really narrow and because of all the boats having moored nose to tail, it made life interesting for those who tried to crawl past. In fact at one point I took pity on a hirer that was desperately trying to avoid hitting the boat in front by advising him to put the power on rather then throttle back.
This afternoon we made the journey by car to Christine's. She had a scan booked for after 2pm and didn't think she would be back to collect our grandson Josh from school. While she made her way to Burton hospital, Ian cut up a mountain of wood in readiness for burning in their chiminea while I grabbed the trowel and tried to make a start in getting rid of the weeds in the garden. With Christine not back from the hospital we made our way to Josh's school to pick him up.Good job she had mentioned to the teacher that it could be us that would be fetching him otherwise he wouldn't have been allowed to leave with us.
When Christine returned she told us the scan had revealed that the weight of the baby, if it was born within the next couple of days, would be well over 8lb. She still has 4 days to go till her due date so I hate to think what the baby will weigh if she is a fortnight late!!!
The water glisening in the early morning sunshine. It was already blowing a hooley . |
