About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Doggie life jackets

When we reached the end of the Ruford Arm we found only very limited moorings. Icing and Bracken managed to find moorings by the swing bridge and with a bit of persuading to another boat, managed to shuffle him along so we could squeeze into a space just big enough to slot us in. We then decided to make the boat sea worthy ready to go out onto the tidal River Douglas and then onto the River Ribble. The anchor came out, then the roof furniture was tied down and then the most important thing was found, the doggies life jackets. Ian is demonstrating just how they work on the dogs, but if the dogs could talk they would have told us to take these fl***ing things of. No amount of pushing and pulling would get them to move and in the end we had to take them off. They "will" wear them tomorrow!!!
