About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Going through the sea lock

I'm not sure what I expected once we entered Savic Brook but certainly not an insignificant narrowing that was called "The sea lock" Apparently when the last boat goes through, a barrier is raised from the river bed to keep the water in rather than escaping back into the estuary. Fail to make it within the time there would be no water in the brook and a diversion would be necessary to Preston.
