About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Birds eye view

Arrived at Canopy Tours with my stomach in knots and wondered if I was going slightly insane for even contemplating the idea of zip lining again. The time had come to take to the air and soar high amongst the trees and ferns of an ancient forest. Higher, longer and more spectacular than the original tour. Yes, we both had zip lined 3 years ago but on that original short course only. The Ultimate has only been in existence for the last 18 months. But being us and slightly mad we decided that would be to tame and went for the Ultimate Zip Wire experience. This meant crossing three swing bridges, two of which had a handrail of sorts and the third with only the shackle sliding on a wire above your head and a strap to hold onto. Every movement of the bridge was felt, most disconcerting! Then there were the 6 ziplines ranging from 50 meters (to ease us gently into it) to 400 meters long, one of which had tandem lines so you could race your partner. A terrifying 'cliff walk' halfway along the tour and to top it all, we had umpteen stairs to climb to get to the first zipline and a further 6 flights of stairs toward the end. Oh, and did I mention the final drop to the ground by a controlled descent? But yea....we did it and another to tick off the list.

So lots of photos and videos!

Congratulations, what a pair of daredevils! Don't think we would be willing to give it a go.
