About Us
- Ian and Irene Jameison
- In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

A boring sort of day
It's all the waiting to travel down to Kingfishers to dry dock the boat but that's not until next Thursday, so I'm trying to find things to do. Ian still has a few jobs around the bungalow and I suppose I could start changing the winter clothes for summer ones but once that is done I'm at a loose end. The sunny days and warm weather makes sitting here in the arm all the more difficult especially as boats have been coming and going all day. Most unusual for this canal as boats usually cruise past the Erewash at Trent lock. The river was on red boards a couple of days ago and I have been told that the flood lock at Sawley is still on and with the river dropping fast, hence the boat traffic. So only a few pictures to look at, just my wildlife and one of horses coming along the Derby canal.

Been meaning to ask for ages - how is Jade now?
And how you all faring too, of course :-)

Hello Sue,
Jade isn't too bad although she still has moments of falling over, especially when she shakes her head. This still makes me think her problem is ear related. The Metacam seems to be working which is great news. It may shorten her life but at least she will be pain free (I hope)
As for us...We are all very healthy at the moment. Long may it continue.
Hope you and Richard are well and all the houndies too. We are heading North this year so may not meet up but will continue to read all of your and, of course, Ty's exploits.
Hope you have a good cruising summer.

This might come through twice!
We're heading north too - Birmingham for the end of May then who knows - NE, NW or North Central - so many fine waterways to choose from :-)
