After all the excitement earlier on I thought I would try and wake up a bit by putting best foot forward and taking Woofit out. As I stepped off FS I heard the distinctive cry of a Buzzard. Looking across the fields to Toton railway yards this Buzzard was being mobbed by a Crow.
About Us
- Ian and Irene Jameison
- In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Aerial antics In more ways then one!
What a night! 3.30am and wide awake. Something was happening outside and for a minute or two nothing quite registered. Then we became aware of the sound. A loud droning noise which changed frequency constantly. The realisation hit us when it became apparent that the noise was coming from a helicopter above. Not, as one would imagine, high up but hovering about 30ft above Beech house directly opposite our bungalow. I saw the lights reflecting in Nb Icings window and got out of bed to have a look. With having a Houdini in the galley we could watch the helicopter as it circled overhead. And there it stayed for the best part of 30 minutes! We dare not go outside (although I was sorely tempted) in case we came face to face with the perpetrator. Ian was just about to put the kettle on at 4am as sleep seemed impossible when the helicopter upped and headed away. I heard the sound of police radios on the bridge so no doubt the villain had been apprehended. Peace at last and yes we did manage another few hours sleep although we felt and looked like a pair of zombies on waking this morning.

The rest of the day was spent sorting out all our clothes from the garage. Since leaving the bungalow in 2008 we packed everything from the wardrobes in cases and deposited them in the rafters. There they lay forgotten until today. So now the charity shops will have a field day with all our cast offs. Ian had 4 jackets and I had three. Not sure why we kept so many but no doubt someone will be pleased with them.

Amazing shots there Irene.
Irene, I can't decide if the buzzard in the second shot is being attacked by an angel or a witch? From the hooked fingers it could be the latter but the angelic wings suggest the former!
