About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Update on Jade

Today has been a good day for Jade. She seemed a little improved last night, not staggering as much as before. Typical Labrador though. Just a walking stomach and no way would she let us forget it was dinner time.  Anyway we held her over her bowl so she didn't do a nose dive into her food and she finished every mouthful. She even ate the tablets without spitting them out so must have been hungry. So today was the open day at Sandiacre Lock ( more about that tomorrow )and we took Jade with us in the car. Before the boot lid was fully open she tried jumping into the back and banged her head on the metal work. Ouch! Even I felt that! It must have hurt like hell but I'm sure dogs don't feel pain as much as us 'cause she shook her head, promptly fell over and then wagged her tail! Anyway I'm hoping the antibiotics will start to kick in soon and that she continues to improve because it's horrid watching her fall over every now and then. Let you all know more tomorrow.

Before the public arrived. More photos tomorrow.

And finally:-
