About 200m downstream of Bridge 12, there is a sunken boat on the offside of the navigation. Boats are able to navigate past the craft, but are asked to proceed with care. We are dealing with this issue and hope to have the boat removed as soon as possible.
The boat in question was a large cruiser type moored at Padmore moorings in Sandiacre. We passed the boat when we left in June and on our return in November it was still there. A for sale notice had appeared in the window, a valid licence was on display and it looked to be in good nick. So we were quite surprised to hear it had been sunk. It had also been moved about half a mile further along the canal and left on the offside. Ian drove past it today on the way to our bungalow and noticed, as well as it now lying on the bottom, that all the windows had been smashed. So here is a thought, and it is just a thought mind, both of us were wondering if it was the owner who had deliberately scuppered it and not vandals. How else could it have been moved so far without an engine running. Makes one wonder doesn't it, especially as it was for sale!
And finally:-
