About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Top box made. I have such a clever fellow.

It's finished! It's only taken Ian roughly 8 weeks and no doubt it could have been finished earlier if it hadn't been for me wanting other things doing at the same time. Ian is a perfectionist and several times he has had to remake the brackets and redesign the fittings and at one point after making the new box, even had to take that apart 'cause the aluminum frame that he made and designed by his own fair hand turned out to be a bit small. So here is the finished product and a lovely job it is too.

The box on the floor is next in line for a makeover. It's getting the same sort of lid but without the solar panels

Solar panels mounted on the topbox lid

Metal bars go through two brackets attached to the lid which gives added security when the panels are down.

And with all the panels raised.
And finally:-
