About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Tea rooms for us and the birds

Both of us decided that a ride out to Shipley park would make a nice change for Jade. I'm sure she gets as fed up as me walking the same route nearly every day and whenever we go somewhere different she has that excited spring in her step. Our route took us to a lovely tea room in the middle of the park where we stopped for coffee and cake. Surrounding the cafe were platform bird feeders which fed a host of birds as well as the odd squirrel.

Another Chaffinch. Looks like his tail feathers have suffered somewhat
