Free Spirit moored behind the fungi clump. |
About Us
- Ian and Irene Jameison
- In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Beaten by a Canny Fox!
Having spent another night listening to the rain beating down on the roof, it was very pleasant to wake to sunny skies and very warm temperatures. Having left a lot later then usual this morning we were just beaten to the off by Nb Canny Fox. So we gave them a few minutes to get down Penkeridge lock and was again getting ready to leave when another boat came round the corner and delayed our departure. In the end we waited a good 15 minutes before setting off and arrived at the lock only to see Canny Fox still there and no sign of the other boat. Had the other boat stolen their lock? Seems not as Canny Fox had pulled onto the facilities and had to watch as the boat sailed on by. Anyway the rest of the locks saw us trailing Canny Fox and eventually they stopped at Acton Trussel and allowed us to do the last lock of the day alone. So now we have arrived at Stafford Boat club. Pete the harbour master has given us a lovely mooring and we await a visit from Alan and Carol later today.
And finally:-
