About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

A nothing sort of day

Nothing to look forward to except the dreaded hospital visit this afternoon so we decided to have a proper go at cleaning the roof and sides of the boat. Having come off the dock and only given the roof a cursory wipe down the dirt that came off was unbelievable. Three times I changed the water and still the roof didn't look clean. Both of us are come to the conclusion that this year will be the year for a roof repaint. We just need to get some decent weather to do it. Not much more to report but I do want to congratulate Sue and Vic on No Problem for making it across the Wash from Boston to Wisbech. Sue has posted some great photos which are not to be missed. Click here to see her post.

My photos are from this mornings walk with Jade along the river.

Cock pheasant

Catkin flower I think.

The Cormorant. Still my most hated bird but also very beautiful in its own right.

This came charging along the dirt road leading away from the facilities. Thank goodness we hadn't started washing the boat!!
