This was one of those days that started well and then went rapidly down hill. First thing this morning we helped Dennis and Margaret black Icing's bottom. Took about 2 hours to do all the way round and after stopping for a well earned cup of tea brewed by Margaret, we went back to our boat to change and get ready for Ian's chemo at 1 pm. Now Ian always phones the ward to check that his treatment has arrived, and more often then not it had. Not this time though. In fact the ward receptionist said that they had been trying to contact Ian all morning. Apparently his white blood count was low and he needed another blood test. We were all set to leave for the hospital when daughter Christine phoned. She was in a bit of a pickle having just arrived home from collecting Josh from the child minder and discovered to her horror that her front door key was still inside the house. Could we go over to Swadlincote with our spare key and let her in. The answer to that was a resounding no, she would have to come to us! To cut a long story short, I ended up staying at the boat, waited for Christine to arrive, fed and watered both Josh and Christine and then sent them on there way. In the meantime Ian had had his second blood test, waited an hour for the result and been given the all clear. Now all he had to do was twiddle his thumbs until the hospital pharmacy was ready to make up his treatment. At this moment he has already been waiting for his chemo from 2pm until now (5pm) and he still hasn't phoned me to say he is being attached to the drip. I think this could be a very long night!

What a bummer of a day :(
But on the plus side though at least Ian's white cell count was OK for him to have the chemo :)
Just hope he gets back home before breakfast!!
