In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.
Redshank Island is at the end of Redshank pontoon (obviously) and has this pair of nesting swans. I felt honoured this afternoon to witness the 'change over' duty's of the pair.
At the other end of the island is a nesting pair of Canada Geese. I was never able to get close enough to them to take a photo. I only managed to take this after we left the mooring.
