Another glorious morning and also the day to say farewell to Keith and Jo and Jen and Graham. What a fabulous time we have had here made even better by meeting up with our blogger friends. Bunting came down early and when Northern Star came along going our way we joined them so we could pair up at the locks.

Swanline nb Northern Star exiting lock 1 and onto the river. |
We made good headway until we met a Black Prince hire boat misjudging the turn at bridge 7 and careering into the far bank, and then after meeting up with our lock buddies on Northern Star, meeting the two hotel boats 'Snipe and Taurus' on the narrowest part between bridge 3 and 2 on a blind bend!!!! Heart stopping moment when we only had seconds to react and stop the two boats crashing into each other. After my heart started beating again, I noticed that the hotel guest sitting at the front of the boat appeared totally oblivious to the fact that disaster had only just been averted. They smiled at us and continued sipping their drink as if this was an everyday occurrence! Then..... we were chased by a very irate swan!!!! I have no idea why as there wasn't a sign of signets anywhere.
I expect these trees were land locked until the canal was opened. I wonder if they will still be alive in a few years time.
The right hand turn onto the river was a very easy. No flow as such to hinder us but I wouldnt like to do it when there was some fresh coming down! After a stop at the Lenchford Inn for lunch and negotiating the final lock at Lincomb we moored on the pontoon below Stourport narrow locks at about 3.30 pm.

Sounds like you were having all the fun. We stayed onboard last night, both feeling everso slightly cream crackered. The others went to the beer tent for the music and were there to witness the police arrive and cart someone off who was causing trouble lol. We missed all the excitement.
I hope you have a safe journey and all goes well Friday xx
