About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Waka Huia's interior photos

 September 14th

We tried to beat the rain this morning and failed! Mizzle started as we set off, Ian on the helm as I was frantically trying to make FS presentable for when our visitors. Lynda and Tony, arrived this afternoon. This did mean that Ian got very wet for the two hours it took to arrive at The Anchor Inn at Hartshill.

I took no photos, too busy polishing and washing floors, and then a phone call as we arrived at Hartshill from Lynda to say they couldn't be with us until 5 pm. I needn't have rushed after all. Anyway, after they did turn up we went for a meal at the Anchor, the staff were fabulous, so very friendly and the food wasn't bad either but the wait for it to arrive took ages. Surprising because only us and two other couples in the pub. And tomorrow lunchtime we do it all again when our son-in-law's parents Gunda and Kev will pay us a visit. Good job these moorings are a two day!

I posted a few days ago that Marilyn and Davids boat Waka Huia was up for sale. I haven't as yet received the brokerage link, that will come later, but Marilyn has put on some fabulous photos of the exterior and interior of their boat. Please have a look and if you are looking for the perfect boat or know someone who  is ready to take to life afloat, click on this link. Waka Huia for sale
