About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Hmm always problems of where to stop overnight?

What was my last posted comment last night? We won't be moved on? But when a Police car pulled up next to us, well past 8pm, we thought, "Here we go again". For one awful moment we thought one of them was going to come over but they only gave us a 'long hard look'! Do we really look like undesirables and up to no good? Thankfully they thought not and drove off.

This morning and after a recommendation from another motorhomer we headed off to Fakenham and to Pensthorpe Nature Park. This Park is definitely on par with Slimbridge wetland park and both places were visited by the Spring Watch team. It was a good 6 hours later when we finally left. So much to see, plenty of wildlife and on the walks, always something to grab the attention. We loved trying to find the hidden sculptures. Made it our mission to find as many as we could. Failed miserably though and only found about half.

So this is another recommendation from us and at a tad over £11for seniors well worth the entrance price.

Lots of photos to show (sorry)

On the Sculpture trail

By 5pm we called it a day, had to really as they closed at 5 so, you could say, we were kicked out! Had nowhere planned to stop for the night and with hardly any wild camping sites in this part other than laybys,  (No absolutely not! Never again) Ian found another CC site but this time at the Reepen and Ripon Railway grounds.

The other side of the hedge is the railway.
