Haircuts done we pulled pins after lunch and travelled the 3.75 miles to Campbell Park. Had a slight hold up at bridge 90. A workboat platform was right across the bridge 'ole with men on scaffolding repointing the brickwork. Took only minutes for them to pull the platform out of the way and allow us through.
Wow, I think a bit of dredging has been done around here. Be nice if this could be continued on every canal.
Seems not everyone is happy about the new signs. This one has already been defaced.
Newlands has always been our prefered mooring site when coming to the park but not any more! Lots of work has started on both sides of the canal with the building of the new 100 berth marina on the towpath side and 300 new homes, a cafe, convenience store, pub and nursery on the offside. To view what it will look like click here
The next best place would have been opposite Campwell Park but unsure whether anything would be available, we stopped in a space before the bridge. Good job too as the whole length, park side and towpath side, are now allocated to winter moorings. Looks like we are staying here then!
And seen on route,
About Us
- Ian and Irene Jameison
- In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Not sure about the FZ2000 but on my camera I can enable "spot" focussing which uses the centre of the frame as the focal point and ignores everything else. You might find it will help. Cheers
Dave
Thanks Dave, I'll see if I can find it in the manual.
