About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

From the hotel room

Woke this morning to see Balmoral docked and all ready and waiting for the next bunch of passengers.

Balmoral is the largest and newest cruise ship, named after the Scottish home of the Royal Family. Still smaller than most cruise ships today, there are 710 cabins and suites and generous public space for the 1,300 guests on board. Last year in Boudicca we had ample space to wander round and never had any problem finding a seat. Meeting the same people over and over again was also a bonus. Hoping to meet some like minded folk as us but I'm sure, no matter what, we will enjoy ourselves.

Medieval Merchant house. Saw this walking toward the port.

Well we are now on board. Taxi picked us up at 12 45pm and with very little queuing for the security and check in we got on board by 2pm. Cabin is fabulous with a Starboard facing cabin so hopefully the sun will shine on us during the voyage.

More photos of the interior when I get an internet signal.

Hope you both have a great holiday :)

Don't forget to take a photo of you knocking in Balmoral's mooring pins at your first port of call... LOL
