About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Bit of an update

Day 18

Had a visit last night during dinner. A large ship appeared out of the gloom on the horizon getting closer and closer. Next thing we saw was something coming from the ship toward us at full speed. It had to be a small vessel but the only thing we could see were the nav lights. Speculation started and even the waiters were at a lose as to what was going on. Then a message from the Captain. Nothing to fear, just dropping off more security personal as well as putting more precautionary measures in place. Balmoral came to a dead stop and the small vessel came alongside. Within minutes we saw it leave and speed back to the waiting ship, which we assumed was Navel. Wow....... how easy is it for a small boat to come alongside undetected? Without those nav lights displayed none of us would have been any wiser to it's presence..

We have daily news from the UK so we know about Corrie star Deirdre. We also know of the freezing temperatures your experiencing so I thought I would show you what we are having to put up with. Sorry folks. Had to be done (:.
