- In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough.From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Harecastle Tunnel
Yesterday Ian gave BW a ring to see about going through the tunnel. They only allow boats through Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and we had to give at least 48 hours notice to guarantee passage. We arranged it for Wednesday morning, so today we had a slow amble up to the tunnel entrance with a stop for lunch at Westport Lake. 
Surprisingly no other boats were moored along the stretch from Etruria and Harecastle. Maybe BW are finally moving the continues moorers along!
