From Oz to Singapore

April 19t

Since Andy and my birthday back in March, we have been waiting to go on the lunch Harbour Cruise on one of the tall ships in Sydney. It was a birthday gift to us both from our respective children but it was touch and go whether it would go ahead due to Sally having Covid. But it came good in the end and what a great few hours. The day was glorious with light winds, just right for sailing. Ian and Andy got to heave too with the sails whilst we watched and took the photos.

Back on land and another surprise when a chap came up to us with his Macaw. It hopped on my arm, gosh these birds are heavier than you think. Sally's turn came but that pesky bird was after one thing, the buttons on her blouse.

What a smashing end to our trip culminating in final drinks and packing when we got back. Made an early departure for bed seeing as we have to leave early to catch the train from Hornsby to arrive at the airport by 8 am.

April 20th

Australia is now far behind us. The 8-hour Qantas flight taking us to Singapore. left 4 hours later than expected. Annoying really as the Qantas plane was waiting at the gate ready for us passengers. Still unsure as to why we couldn't board but hey ho, such is the way of the airports. We did stay in the House Lounge for a few hours, had brekkie there and caught up with emails etc.so at least comfy seats were to be had. A cheeky 10 am drink was also had. And why not I say!

 Took nearly 5 hours to fly across Australia. Makes you realise just how vast this continent is.

Anyway temperatures at Singapore was in the low 30s. Sticky with humidity and quite glad to reach the hotel. The cab hailed for us stank of cigarette smoke, most unpleasant, I don't think they bother too much about that sort of thing over here. We got un upgrade to a room with a view and wow what a view. Can't wait to see it in the morning but the nighttime lights were something else.
