About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Red or green?

Another hot day, another lazy one. The only plan so far was for the Jameison and Warren clan to lunch out at the visitor center, a short walk away. 10.30am and before the heat got too much to bare, Ian again suggested another bike ride. The red track was mentioned, this fast 8 mile unsurfaced single track loops around the forest taking in exciting terrain and provides a physical and mental challenge. Hmm, let me just think on that!!!! Nop, no way. It's the easier family green trail or nothing!

Ian is in there somewhere.

And finally a photo of me

Returned just in time to join the family for the walk to the center. Jacket spuds and panini's were purchased and devoured, but the suggestion of ice creams were turned down in favour of Sheila's bread pudding on our return, and very yummy it was too.

Rain was forecast for the 'morrow so before putting our bikes to bed, another great addition to this site was the bike cleaning bay. I must say this is a well run and well-thought-out camp ground. Not cheap at £25 pn for a motorhome on electric but beautifully maintained and clean and worth every penny.

The evening was once again spent playing Mexican train, stopping earlier than usual because an early start was needed tomorrow. Sheila is off to the hospital for a check and possible xray to see how the wrist bones are lining up.
