So no long worded post for me today, this is more a blog of photos 'cos I took that many and most will be self-explanatory.
First the right turn off the GU and immediately to the staircase locks.
Mini waterfalls over the lock gates, good-oh plenty of water to take down with us.
Not to be outdone by the way these locks were designed (no platform across the bottom gates) Ian resorted to taking the boat hook to close the far gate.
And this shows how bad the overhanging vegetation was at some of the lock approaches and exits.
And what was I saying about plenty of water?
An attempt had been made to remove the weed!
It needs a lot more than one small weed cutter to get on top of the stuff. This happened time and time again.

Made it to Aylesbury after 7 hours. Tomorrow we do it all again in reverse!

It was exactly the same when we went there on Rock 'n' Roll in August 2009 Irene!
Looks like C&RT have given up on that canal..... the reeds closing the channel is very poor. Good on you for taking FS down there. Maybe an email to C&RT to show how much work is needed on the canal to maintain the navigation?
Well that a pretty poor show Carol if the canal has been like that for 11 years! CRT should be ashamed of themselves!
You are right Nev, they have given up! I think sending photos, as well as a nasty letter, might be the answer.
