We chose the Forester, a quaint place serving huge jacket spuds filled with whatever we wanted and when suitably full, walked the short length of the 'high street', purchasing strawberries, cream and meringues to make an Eaton Mess for dessert. (my turn to cook dinner so I served up a risotto) before ambling back.
Didn't do much more other than try out our bikes ready for a trip to Lyndhurst tomorrow. Now that should be interesting! Apart from a short bike ride wobbling along the filled in Derby Canal I haven't ridden a bike in years! I may well be walking bowlegged tomorrow!

So nice to see the New Forest Ponies come so close to your camping area.
When we were on our Big OE some years ago, we remember visiting a place close by which had rescued otters - not sure what it was called or if they are still around. And the Visitors Centre in New Forest was really lovely. Think there is a cemetary in Brockenhurst with New Zealand war graves there too, which we were told about, and discovered, it was very moving. Seems there was a hospital there for wounded soldiers.

What a shame we didn't know of the war cemetery sooner as a visit would have been good. We leave tomorrow for Ireland so no chance of finding it now. Thanks for the information though, one to try and find when we next visit Brockenhurst. Xx
