About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

What fun...a food container

So tired this morning after a very late night. Stayed up to watch Les Miserables, but what a brilliant musical. Had me in tears nearly the whole way. Hoped for a bit of a lie in this morning but the young Coots kept shouting for their parents from 6.30am onwards and boy are they noisy!

The rain started intermittently at first but really set in around 8am. By 9am two boats, Cleddua and Tentatrice came past with four very bedraggled looking folk all dressed to the nines in wet weather gear and one wet Monty. Still I shouldn't have laughed as I waved them farewell but oh, how nice not to have to travel in these conditions while other folk do.

Dreadful weather for us although the Coots liked it.
So not much done other then sort photos, stow away the anchor (the longest we have ever had the anchor on display, a good two months) tidy FS and watch TV. A very boring day although we did make a mad dash to The Fox for lunch, just to relieve the boredom and then to the Nisa in Hanwell for milk. Only 1/2 mile walk but we chose the wrong moment and got soaked when a particularly heavy burst caught us unawares.

So only a few photos of the youngsters at play.
