About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

It's been a long old day.

It's still raining!! River levels still seem very low so can only assume the water torrent hasn't reached us yet. Pins have been checked and are well bedded in and ropes slackened, just in case.

Not much to do other then bake cakes and make an apple crumble. Found some blackberries during a lull in the rain so added them for a sweeter taste.

Hardly any boat movement and what there was, was mainly cruisers and the odd narrow boat. The weather looks to be improving for tomorrow so, as the last time I visited Beale Park the rain fell all day, I'm going to pay for another look round. Might see some more critters. Most were all tucked up underground out of the wet.

Did notice Mayfly dancing. I was under the illusion that they only came out in May but apparently they can be present all year.

And also seen today

Mandarin duck

Grouse

Goldfinch

Egyptian goose
