About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Sad day for us and the end of the festival

Had some sad news from our daughter Christine and son in law Kev. Their beloved Echo, Jades sister, passed away this morning. She had been unwell for several weeks but like all labs the tail never stopped wagging although food intake was hit and miss.  I like to believe both are now reunited over the rainbow bridge together. She will be missed by us all.

Jade & Echo
The day was marred somewhat by the news and the dog show didn't help matters with some lovely Labs and Collies doing their stuff. Made me think back to Jade and Echos younger days when they had so much energy it was hard to keep up with them. We were thankfully distracted somewhat by the duck race, which we didn't win I might add, our duck 220 ending up in the margins! So just a few more photos of this excellent St Richards Boat and Car festival celebrating 200 years of navigation of the Worcester & Birmingham canal before we leave for the river Severn and Worcester tomorrow.

Ducks frightened by ducks!

And an outright winner

Steam engines

Moved to a longer pontoon this morning and conveniently by the water point.

Not much left of the pig roast. Delicious it was too!
