About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Christmas comes early

We have already had Christmas and New Year Eve on our Turkey and Tinsel weekend in November and now we are to have another two Christmas festive days in December! Our first is this weekend at our son Colin and Daughter-in-Law Iwona's pad in Milton Keynes. With him flying off to Poland on Christmas day ( cheaper then flying at any other time ) and as the Grandchildren seem to want their Nanny and Grandad Boat to share their excitement on opening presents, we are going to do the whole festive occasion bit over the next two days. I have been nominated to make the starter ( home made chicken liver pate ) and cook the main dinner (Turkey with all the trimmings) with our daughter Christine making desert. Seems like Colin and Iwona has got off lightly but there in for a shock. Our motto as always is, the one that cooks does not have to do the washing up!

If I'm to exhausted after all that cooking, playing with the kiddies, opening presents, chit chat and, my favourite pastime, drinking to do any proper blogging, I may just post a few wildlife pictures instead.

And finally:-
