What great excitement!! Bob, the first of 10, has finally arrived! Sadly Minnie, the second, never made it out into this world having got stuck fast and is now in the after life. So you may by now be wondering exactly what has arrived in our daughters and partners residence. If you look closely at this photo you may be able to work out what it is.
As these insects can live up to a year I can see Christine taking over pet duty's as they are hardly riveting enough to keep Josh interested. After all you cant go out and play with them as all they do is pretend to be sticks!!! Anyway at the moment Josh loves his new pet and cant wait for the rest to appear. He wants to name them all but quite how he'll be able to tell one from the other is beyond me.

As a parent of 2 kids who had stick insects for a time, please tell your daughter to be very careful when cleaning out. Stick insects are parthenogenic (the females don't need males to reproduce) and its very easy to lose eggs. Many's the time we looked up to see an"escape" only to realise that the 'stick' concerned was much smaller than those in the container in which we kept them. In a house they can hatch quite easily.
