About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Just chilling out.

What a change to wake up to the sun streaming through the window. With the forecast for long hot sunny days, it was a good job the roof was painted yesterday.  First thing this morning Ian replaced the solar panels to get the benefit from all this lovely sun.  Only trouble was one of the two smaller panels refused to give out any voltage. It is now, as Ian pointed out, a deceased panel. It does mean that we will have to do what we have been talking about doing for a long time and that is to spend some more of our cash to buy another 100 watt solar panel. Not wanting to put the top boxes back until the paint had hardened, Ian spent some time cleaning the brasses while I cleaned through the boat and baked a cake. This afternoon was a time for sitting and enjoying the glorious weather. Both dogs refused to go for a decent walk wanting to spent the majority of the day sleeping. So most of the photos taken today are of the wildlife around here.

A lovely cool beer! Jade is in the shade  behind Ians legs. Echo would not be moved from her spot.

Echo has the ball in her mouth.

Help or hindrance!!!
