About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Last trip to Eastbourne

Tomorrow is the funeral of Norma my Step mum. We have decided to stay at our son Colin's tonight in Milton Keynes. Our Daughter in Law, Iwona and Grand kids Oscar and Oliver, are still in Poland visiting her parents so it seemed logical that we would take Colin down with us. The only downside to this arrangement is his East Wing build. The extension has caused massive disruption with furniture crammed in every available space. This means we may be sleeping on the kitchen floor!!!! As the house no longer holds any heat due to plumbing issues I think the thermals will also be packed. Probably a good job Iwona is still away. Anyway, the funeral is at 12.15pm tomorrow and after the wake we will choose the site to scatter both Dads and Norma's ashes together. They both loved orange roses so it seemed fitting to chose a rose bush of that colour and place a plaque with a small inscription for both of them. In my heart I'm glad they died close together because they loved each other very much. It's an end of an era for all of us.

Thankyou Jo. The funeral was lovely and I can take heart in knowing Dad and Norma are together forever.
