About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Really good fish on the Coventry canal

The journey to the Coventry canal was slow and very relaxing. Dennis and Margaret and us were in no hurry so we only traveled a couple of hours a day. Going through Fradley was probably the most stressful as we had to make the turn onto the Coventry canal. Im sure all the boats entering the Trent and Mersey from Coventry were out to get us as boat after boat kept coming through. As you may or may not be aware the locks on the T & M were immediately before the junction so all the boats suddenly emerging made it very interesting to say the least.

What a fantastic part of the Coventry canal this is. I had two huge bream and a chub of at least 3 1/2Lb.
