About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Not easy juggling two jobs

Today has been manic more so for Ian then me. Not only has he managed to fit 7 boats into the ECP&DA mooring basin, something I thought was an impossibility, but as an electrician, it also fell on his shoulders to install all the power and lighting in the marquee. As Harbour Master, he was constantly in demand to get boats onto their mooring so unfortunately, the installation of the electrics had to be put on hold. As I type this he has finally managed to find time to pull a few cables through to the marquee and with the help of Colin on NB Eli, managed to get some of the lighting in place.

My first job this morning was to leg it down the towpath checking the signs were still all there. Massive relief to find them all secure and still in place.  Had to move on a boat who had ignored the signs but he only needed to go through Anchor Bridge where he was only too happy to moor.

James and Debbie Nb Lois Jane has also arrived today and is now our new neighbours for the duration of the rally. Lovely to catch up with them again.

Only two photos today which is very unlike me as I usually take loads.

Took some working out but 7 boats all in.
