About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Crikey...not another Mary Celeste!

Loving this warm spell, no need for heating and even the extra blanket has come off the bed. Ians more than happy with the high temperature as the painting on the gunwale is coming along nicely although the drying is taking its time. Another coat tomorrow and the job should be a good un!

Got out of Ian's way, always best left on his own without me around and headed for Willen Lake. Lovely autumnal colours once more although I expected more around the lake. Plenty of birds for me to take pictures of so that's me more than happy too.

Had a bit of a double take moment once back at FS. A Wyvern boat heading towards us with no one on the tiller!!! Mary Celeste definatly came to mind when I saw that! Only one boat I know that can be steered from the front and that's the owner James on his boat Ocean Princess. Makes one sit up and take another look. Imagine the look on other boaters faces when they see that coming toward them!

Its BBQ time again, amazing really seeing as it's mid-October. Will this be the last one of the year?

And wildlife from around the lake,
