About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Its amazing how many boats can be packed into the great Northern Basin.

Whats on over the weekend just in case anyone wants to visit. No boats please as we are overflowing!!!
.
With the weather absolutely perfect today we have had a steady stream of boats. How John Baylis ( Harbour Master)  managed to pack them into the basin was a sight to behold. There are still another 2 or 3 boats to be squeezed in somewhere and once John has achieved that task, all the rest of the boats will be moored below lock. Here is my photo contribution of the mayhem for today.

Winding ready to go into the basin having just come up the lock

With the swing bridge open.

Next boat winding

and another

A tight squeeze. Ian had to use the pole to keep the green boat from drifting out. Whoever had been holding it was called away and didn't tie her up properly.

and yet another

All in for now.
View from the road bridge. All the boats in front are visiting boats with those behind ECP&DA permanent  moorers.

Has Tony and his new boat Alice B made it? When we brought Percy off him last year he was just starting to fit out the shell? I am sure he said his target for the first trip was this festival?
